Sunday Stamps - commemorative

Today's Sunday Stamps topic is commemorative.

I have purchased stamps from the United Nations (NY) in the past, and, while the service often takes 4-6 weeks, it is alway worth the wait as they typically send mail out with a wonderful selection of stamps, nice placement, and great postmarks.

A set of stamps was released to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the UN in 2015. Two of these large square stamps were on this envelope, finished off with a special 70 postmark.

Bonus commemorative stamp on yesterday's blog post.

  1. I have only ever come across UN stamps by chance so it's good to see some comparatively recent ones.

    1. As they can only be used on mail posted from the UN, it is not surprising that they aren't seen very often.

  2. The only UN stamps I remember seeing are older ones, and they are a little on the boring side. These are definitely worth ordering.

    1. Some are stunning, some of the designs are not as appealing to me.

  3. What a nice touch from the UN Post, they are an interesting quartet of stamps. I like the multicultural buildings.

    1. I like the buildings stamp the best of this set, too.
